We are currently witnessing an interesting situation, both from a technological and economic point of view. Two extremely important mobile phone manufacturers (and displays), or Samsung and LG, is now promoting smartphones with curved screens. But curved in totally different ways.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is a refined solution that is presented earlier (but only) in Note 4 Edge model. The screen of the smartphone is essentially flat, but closer to the edge (longer ones to the left and to the right side of the display) is bent very much. As a result, even if we look at the screen of the smartphone completely on the side, right or left hand, we are able to see the most important information and notifications.
LG G4 also is heir to a solution which was originally promoted in the model LG Flex 2. This time, the screen is not bent edge, and its cross section is completely flat. For this longitudinal section, that is, from top to bottom of the screen, reminds the slightly curved arc. In the case of G4 arc is scratched a little more subtle, but its rounding after all there is no doubt about it.
Interestingly, if Samsung curved screens explains the introduction of additional capabilities the device, whereas LG uses more terms related to ergonomics, comfort, naturalness hold the device. So we have two radically different approaches, which connects only one thing – the screens are indeed bent.
Which concept is better and which ultimately will win? Perhaps both will continue to continue, and perhaps the market will decide that producers stealthily withdraw from bending screens and get back to creating traditional “Flatlanders”. This really do not know yet, but the latest graphic concept LG G5 appearance suggests that the Korean manufacturer will present a screen similar to that in the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge – flat, but curved at the edges along the longer sides. Do you wouldnt be such LG G5? In our opinion, it looks really great.
