Google I / O 2013: Samsung Galaxy S4 with a pure Android instead of the new Nexus

Frankly, I’m surprised privately unusual play from Google. Instead of the expected Nexus 5 (?) We have a pseudo-Nexus, the Galaxy S4 in a special version for fans of Android without additives and overlays.

rumors of the possibility of such a jump away from Google to hit the Web a few days ago, but did not seem too authentic. Meanwhile, Google just played. Rather than present the next Nexus today, decided to take advantage of the effect of release Galaxy S4 and hook the almost certain success of Samsung.

What therefore?

Samsung Galaxy S4 will be available from June 26 as the official GooglePhone, but without the characteristic signage Nexus.

software such SGS4 from Google will be the same as a “typical” Nexus, or you will get a pure Android without the TouchWiz overlay applications and Samsung. The changes shall express warranty of Google Android updates immediately after the debut of a new version of the system. There will be a full developer option, the unlocked bootloader.

Google will offer only the version with 16 GB of RAM, compatible with LTE two U.S. carriers AT & T and T-Mobile (both GSM operators are compatible with European standard). The problem may be the price. Pleasure will cost $ 629. A lot! Especially in the U.S. market, where the vast majority of smartphones sold is reimbursed by the operators.

The big unknown is the global availability SGS4 from Google. At the conference there was talk about the United States, it is hard to speculate whether Google has a broader global plans. On the other hand, the shadow of the possibility that in other countries the same Samsung may be tempted to sell the Galaxy S4 edition of Google.

option is interesting because the SGS4 will no doubt be a tempting target for die-hard fans of “pure” Android. I am personally intrigued by the question of what to do next with the brand Nexus
