There is no doubt that when it comes to smartphones, the spotlight are currently Samsung and LG. Galaxy S7 tested a few days before the premiere, on closed demonstrations intended exclusively for the media. With LG G5 was a bit less contact, because only fair – but he spent most of his attention. Both are very interesting devices. But if someone placed it in front of me and had to pick one, what would I do?
Galaxy S7 is beautiful. Successful design from last year improved in such a way as to make it more ergonomic and practical. Glass still collects fingerprints like crazy. The rounded back, however, perfectly fits the hand. Back to waterproof construction must be considered a hit – especially as we solved it in the only appropriate way, leaving exposed connectors. He returned a MicroSD card slot, which is also very positive news, especially when you consider the extended support for external storage Android Marshmallow.
In terms of hardware Galaxy S7 is an evolution of what it was a year ago: better processor, more RAM, improved camera. Yes, here they have made small breakthroughs. Take even this last element: the aperture of f / 1.7 pixels and a diagonal of 1.7 micrometer is probably the best photographic module on the market and yet it will take time (and I mean a few months) before anybody in this field threatens to Samsung.
LG G5 is the complete opposite – here after last year’s premiere did not remain even a trace. The manufacturer turned everything upside down. The skin was in vogue in the season of 2015. This does not remain even after the track – there was aluminum. The buttons on the back of the housing also apparently did passe, because LG moved them to the side edge. In its place remained only button switch with integrated fingerprint reader. Reduced screen diagonal of 5.3 inches, giving up the gentle curvature (that LG G4 was to serve the greater resistance to falls). Effect? Here, opinions are divided. G5 I like, but not breathtaking. However, there are opinions, that is one of the ugliest phones, which have recently appeared on the market.
Traditionally, improved performance: better CPU, more RAM and so on. Instead of one sensational camera uses two …. Where one appears to be a copy of what we had in the LG G4 (16 megapixels, aperture f / 1.8), and the other does not look too positive (8 megapixels, f / 2.0). I am not convinced go in this direction.
The strength G5 to be, however modules. For starters get two: Photographic and music. In time, there will probably be more, because LG has announced the construction of the entire ecosystem of devices with the G5. For gadżeciarza like me this is a fantastic idea. With great pleasure I would have reconstructed G5 and adjust to your current needs. Viewed from the side, but I have the impression that Smith is looking for something else – a smartphone in every way very good, you do not need to further modify and improve any modules. And this seems to be precisely the biggest competitor – Galaxy S7.
Smartphones seem to be addressed to different audiences. Galaxy S7 is a perfect choice for all holders of S5, but it certainly will not convince people wearing pocket S6. Samsung bet on all those who seek simply refined solutions with many qualities.
LG G5 is a nod to the skeptics – those who has yawned on the occasion of each new smartphone release. This smartphone like no other and offering unique experiences and solutions. Fans of gadgets, technology enthusiasts and all who enjoy such experiments will be delighted.
What would I choose? Here longer so simple it is not. Heart gadżeciarza tells G5. Reason suggests rather the Galaxy S7. Finally, for the moment, probably have won the first – especially with today I carry in my pocket G4. I write all this, however, based on first impressions. I make a final choice after testing of each.
