Extensive and 4×4 – test Ford Galaxy 2.0 TDCi – Auto World

Ford Galaxy is a functional interior, rich equipment, powerful engine in combination with automatic transmission and all-wheel drive – a combination almost perfect for a large family, though not only. Is there any disadvantages?

Large van? This solution is no longer fashionable! Modernized Espace became a crossover, our market is no longer the Lancia Voyager (or if you prefer: Chrysler Grand Voyager). Large vans disappeared from the listings of Fiat and PSA. There are rumors that the lounges also has to be withdrawn Sharan.

However, Ford continues to develop model Galaxy – recently had the opportunity to drive the car in the third edition, which is heavily modernized predecessor. It is worth noting that the offer is still too S-Max: based on the technique of the Galaxy, only slightly less functional, with a more sporty design.

When we drove Galaxy, all the time wondering why customers turn away from these cars. The only explanation is … fashion, because of defects in a large Ford hardly detected. In addition, the interior of utter superlatives. The amount of space? The SUV of similar dimensions five people certainly will have more space for themselves and for suitcases. After placing the couch (optional system with electric folding and unfolding 3rd order) made a large, equal plane.

Additional space? Adults can pomarudzą (tight at the height of the feet), but the kids will love. Of course, this configuration can not travel long distances to it, but a problem in this case is limited space for luggage – well, the car is only at the end of a length of 4.8 m.

Ford Galaxy can be a great choice for lovers of all kinds of gadgets. Indicators in the richer variety Titanium is the screen size of 10.1 inches. The car can also be found (standard or extra charge) driver assistance systems. Lecturers will gain support at the moment of leaving the lane, traffic lights (of course – LED) will change automatically, and when parking system will show the environment by means of a camera or take control of the wheel.

Not enough? Another system detects speed limit, others will be watched over braking before an obstacle and condition of the driver. Extras such as factory navigation, digital radio or the key settings for the typical driver is granted. And we mentioned the possibility of opening movement of the flap leg under the bumper? Besides typical electronic systems can be fitted inside a transparent sunroof, seats with massage function and a partition separating the part of the passenger compartment of goods.

Under the hood tested Ford worked 180-horsepower diesel with dual-clutch powershift transmission and all-wheel drive. It is worth noting that the system 4×4 does not have to do with the Galaxy substitutes roadsters – left little ground clearance and the drive increases safety on slippery flat surfaces.

The drive unit works great – the dynamics, as family van, completely satisfied, although the drive to the rear axle a little slow acceleration (according to the technical achievement of “hundreds” takes about 1 second longer than in the same front-wheel version – 10.6 s instead of 9.6 s). Body works quickly and efficiently, do not feel a delay in action 4×4.

Disadvantages? The only combustion: fails to form standards provided by the manufacturer – in the city instead of 6.4 l / 100 km will be about 2 l more, achieving 5.4 l route also require special techniques, 7 l is the real result.

Ford Galaxy 2.0 TDCi – our opinion

fashion for crossovers and SUVs reduces interest vans. Is that correct trend? Galaxy has a lot to offer and it is not only spacious interior. A test version was expensive, but the list of installed add-ons impressive. It’s a real future car capable of driving almost alone.
