So far, I’ve done several approaches to tablets with Android, but each time put off them on the shelf after a few days. The situation changed dramatically when I received for testing the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2. This is the first tablet with Android, which could buy. The advantage is a lot, but it outshines all the incredible screen.
So far, I have been a satisfied user of the second-generation iPad mini. The equipment perfectly hit my needs – he was very mobile and had a Retina screen with good quality. So I have argued until my hands got new tablet Samsung Galaxy Tab S2. Do not exaggerate if I discover that he felt like during a transfer from the old to the new Volvo Volkswagen.
This is what Samsung is doing lately with regard to the screens of their mobile devices, deserves the highest praise. The first time I noticed this when tested Samsung Galaxy S6. Used in the panel Quad HD Super AMOLED simply enchanted me. Incredible sharpness, combined with fantastic (and nieprzejaskrawionymi!) Colors looked phenomenal. History repeated itself with the release of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, the screen covers the full spectrum of not only the sRGB gamut, but also much more demanding AdobeRGB. Independent tests have shown that the best screen among all mobile devices.
After the test Galaxy S6 and a short adventure with more Note’em 5 thought it would be wonderful to use the same screen over a larger area. Luckily I did not have to wait long for it, because in my hands hit the tablet Samsung Galaxy Tab S2. Already after the first few minutes spent with this device I knew that this time the Samsung hit the jackpot.
What’s new in Samsung Galaxy Tab S2?
In the case of new smartphones and tablets technical specification is not what interests me most. I assume that at the appropriate price segment equipment simply can not be bad. Such is the case Taba Galaxy S2, which is driven ośmiordzeniowym Exynos 5433 processor supported by 3 GB of RAM. The tablet runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. Built-in memory (32 or 64 GB) you can be expanded via Micro SD card. The tablet is equipped with a Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1536 x 2048 pixels (aspect ratio of 4: 3) and is available in versions with a diagonal 8 and 9.7 inches.
When choosing a mobile device far more interested in me two other features namely quality (ie. look and feel ), and a screen. In these two categories S2 Samsung Galaxy Tab is a product of the premium. The tablet after taking up a very impressive quality of materials used and beautifully finished details. Samsung S2 Galaxy Tab is a completely new approach in the philosophy of tablets from Samsung, as well as tablets with Android at all. It has always puzzled me why virtually all tablets out of the camp green robot is equipped with a screen aspect ratio of 16: 9 or 16:10. But in practice much better suited aspect ratio of 4: 3, which for a long time were offered only Apple. Some time ago, Google also went to their senses by presenting the Nexus 9 with a much more comfortable proportions. Now for the “Club 4: 3″ also joined Samsung.
Let’s agree aspect ratio of 16: 9 suited for the tablet only when watching TV series. Most of the movies is no cinema, even more widescreen aspect ratio, so black bars are unavoidable. It’s just that the tablet is not television, and the more there is a cinema screen. Is there someone who passionately watching soap operas on the tablet? I can not say I occasionally it happens, but every day content consumption looks quite different.

Tablet is a phenomenal device for browsing the Internet and reading magazines, and here in 4: 3 simply win. Older photographers will definitely remember watching pictures through a magnifying glass to see the details. 300 dpi unfortunately did not withstand the test of a magnifying glass, while on the tablet this problem does not exist. At the end of the photos you can zoom gesture of parting fingers, without loss of detail.
If you’re on the resolution, it should be noted that the Galaxy Tab S2 is slightly lower than last year’s model. It must be remembered that the first Galaxy Tab S in both variants was higher (8.4 and 10.5 inches), and had a 16:10 aspect ratio. This makes changing the resolution to the naked eye is invisible (359 vs 320 ppi). Further thickening pixels would not be reasonable, particularly when Samsung so hard odchudził housing. Higher resolution is a greater demand for energy and the battery is unfortunately thinner than its predecessor. As a result, the contrast of the screen is at a very high level. Another plus is the quality of displayed colors, which is a key aspect for the photographer.
Display Samsung’s new tablet can boast 100% mapping the color gamut sRGB, and covering up to 94% Adobe RGB gamut. These are the results at levels characteristic of professional solutions, yet it is a real rarity in the world of mobile devices.
Out of curiosity, I checked how the tablet will cope in the online color vision test. I looked it up in a very interesting web application available at igame.com/eye-test. This is just fun, but the result in some way proves the quality of color reproduction. In the game every time without problems crossed the level of 30 points.
Samsung S2 Galaxy Tab I also used as a mobile companion with image processing. I used to do this Adobe Lightroom Mobile. Here you met me a nice surprise. My previous Tablet served me only for the selection and evaluation of photographs, which then could synchronize with a desktop Lightroom. In the case of Taba Galaxy S2 I could also address the processing of photos, including white balance adjustment and color adjustments. Color fidelity was high enough that I could continue editing the full program on an external, calibrated computer monitor. For that deserve to Samsung bows.

Samsung finally created a device for demanding customer who is looking not only good performance, but also high quality. S2 Galaxy Tab is the first tablet with Android you are considering. At the moment only it keeps me pretty mediocre battery life, but the screen completely disadvantage rewards. You just have to see it to appreciate the quality of the display. With a clear conscience I can recommend it not only to home users but also photographers who want to incorporate into your work mobile device.
The quality of photos displayed on the screen is good to the extent that I would not hesitate to use the tablet Galaxy Tab S2 in professional photo applications. I do not see any reason not to take advantage of Taba S2 as mobile portfolio, which can boast the meeting with the client. This is one of the most interesting uses of the tablet in the photographer’s work, perhaps even better than classic album. Convenience updating this portfolio is incomparable.
Then there is another aspect, which until recently assured only iPad – image. Many customers draws attention to the package, and so on appearance and equipment. In this respect, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is absolutely no reason to be ashamed. Even for a complete layman device looks like a premium product that commands respect.
