Samsung so far not fared well in the market smartwatchy, and its products sold relatively poorly. A few months ago, the company has therefore decided to change strategy and reduce the number of models discharged each year, so as to make products more refined. The result of this strategy is the latest model Gear S2 which has just been officially presented.
The watch will be available in two variants, namely gear S2 and S2 Gear Classic. In the second case the product is in black, with a more marked bezel and black leather strap. The standard model has a smooth envelope of material resembling polished aluminum, which is also available in black and will be available with silicone straps. Cases of both models are compatible with standard IP68 meaning resistance to splash water (but not waterproof).
Both versions have the same technical specification. They are equipped with 1.2 “Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 360x 360 pixels with pixel density of 302 PPI. It is also 512 MB of RAM and 4 GB of ROM, as well as unspecified dual-core processor clocked at 1 GHz. Watch the 3G version is powered 300 mAh, while the Wi-Fi version will receive a 250 mAh battery. Both models also have Bluetooth and NFC, which will be used to carry out cashless payments.
It is not known yet whether the gear S2 will require cooperation smartphone Samsung, or may work with devices from other companies. Presumably, however, that the manufacturer wants to rely on their own websites and content offered in a digital store Galaxy Apps that are available only on the hardware Samsung. However, considering the fact that one of the models has a card e-SIM and operates in the standard 3G, you can bet that it will act as a stand-alone phone, it requires a connection to smartphones, only to synchronize data or notifications.
The manufacturer has not revealed yet, when the gear S2 will go on sale and how much you will need for him to pay.
