Samsung Galaxy S4 - evolution of leadership - Computer World (press release)

Samsung Galaxy S4 – a phone that get to test a miracle. For a long time the manufacturer reported that no copies of the test. Then began a relentless fight for samples and behind the scenes efforts to push the test at the beginning of the queue. It was like a little familiar with the communist era in the queue for meat, waiting for a voucher for a “baby” or the allocation of housing – older readers will know what I mean.

Finally

Galaxy S4 came to our office with a note that was borrowed only for a week. Week on the phone of this class is not enough – I thought, and promptly proceeded to check what you actually can new flagship smartphone “Big S”? Fortunately, with the help came to me a long weekend, which as it turned out, was included to test the week.

Here are the results of my brief and turbulent friendship with Samsung phones S4-Ka.

First Impression

Taking up a box S4-ki I did not have the impression that I was dealing with an exclusive smartphone. At first I even thought it was some ecological edition of this phone. Cardboard box decorated with wood grain printed because (photo bottom left) – if I’m not mistaken, it’s probably pine.

After finally saw the cover box test Eske (photo bottom right). The inscription on the box says that the smartphone are finished in the color designated as the Black Mist.

somewhat surprised me, however, color included in the accessory kit – white (image below). They are aesthetically pleasing and well made, but they do not belong to the gray-black unit.

test box S4-ki were: USB charger, USB cable and wired stereo headset with three pairs of silicone seals to the headphones.

instructions and paper tape fastening USB cable were kept in an organic style of the box, but the handset, seal them, and charger have been a classic foil packaging.

first contact with the Galaxy S4 pleasantly surprised . It is very slim (9 millimeters thick of the camera optics and 7.5 millimeters and excluding the projecting optics), subjectively light and well lying in the palm smartphone.

Front

phone is a combination of classic and elegance. I absolutely can not agree with the opinions zas?yszanymi that it is poorly executed. The entire front panel covered with a sheet of glass, scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 3 Monolithic order storm front panel only: located at the top of the ear speaker mesh and a single mechanical Home button located below the screen (photo bottom left).

Looking at the front

Galaxy S4 it is obvious that it is very similar to the front panel of the model – the Galaxy S III. In fact, the design of S4-ki is in my opinion a bit more elegant – mainly due to a higher plane, which is on the front panel display. One should, however, make it clear that we are clearly dealing with a stylistic continuation, not a design revolution.

gray border on the sides of the phone looks noble, as if was made of brushed aluminum. But that obviously is not – entire case S4-ki off screen is made of plastic . At first glance, artificial Samsung phones aluminum is difficult to distinguish from the real one. Everything comes to light only after taking the smartphone in your hand.

On the left side of the Samsung Galaxy S4 put long volume button (picture top left). Diversifies the right side of the plane and only a small switch (photo bottom right).

will see the bottom of the phone jack Micro USB (MHL 2.0) and a tiny microphone hole (photo top right). At the top of the housing Galaxy S4 there is a place for headphone minijack 3.5 millimeters, the second microphone and a small, black glass panel that covers the phone’s built-in infrared LED (photo top right).

time to evaluate go back panel of the phone . At first glance, it looks a little elegant and very plastic and . That impression is not reduced finish back in the form of fine-patterned black plaid gray-silver background, or if you will – gray and silver tiny r?bami on a black background (photo bottom left).

phone for nearly 3,000 gold would have expected something a little more sophisticated than a piece of thin plastic mat resembling coal with cheaper rods.

rear surface S4-ki is the first rough (photo top left) , and the very flexible panel (photo top right). Tension with housing Galaxy S4 or pressing the back panel while talking heard clear p oskrzypywania . Such a long time listening experience gave me a taste of any other phone.

I also have to mention that the test model had been on the back of the clearly visible scratches – may therefore tend to quickly draw up.

In theory, the Samsung Galaxy S4 supports wireless charging, but the rear panel is available in Polish version is not ready for this. Double shame as perhaps a panel with support for wireless charging also prove to be solidly constructed.

Was located there: the sensor, Light sensor, recognizing gestures, proximity sensor, front camera 2 megapixel camera and button status LED, which is much better seen in the photo below, on the inside.

Below the screen, on both sides of a single mechanical button Samsung hid another two illuminated and precisely fields to touch (photo bottom right). In short – a classic samsungowy standard.

After removing the flexible and very thin rear panel saw very smartly dressed, but a solid interior samsungowego flagship. From the left side of the photo at the bottom shows: solid-looking box built-in speaker (too bad that there are not, as in the HTC One stereo audio system), a powerful battery with a capacity of 2600 mAh, Micro SIM card slot and microSD memory card slot for SD / SDHC, to which we have access without removing the battery of your smartphone.

It is clear that much projecting beyond the rear panel of the rear camera lens is not protected by an additional glass panel integrated with pleckami phone. This means that while that her potential scratching and dulling will require service.
