Modern smartphones typically one thing in common. Due to its low resistance to external factors, they are not a very good choice for active people. That in view of such persons Samsung in 2011, created a series of Galaxy Xcover. In my hands I fell representative of the third generation of these devices. Is your phone can actually meet him lurking dangers and that offers its users more than just strength? These and other questions will find answers in the following review.

A small cardboard box does not hide in its interior too many treasures. In addition to the smartphone, in my case color Dark Silver, in the box we find only a USB cable with a length of about 80 cm and a charger (both components are white), as well as some waste paper, including a quick start guide (full version can be found on the website manufacturer) and multilingual warranty card. Noteworthy is the lack of handsets, which I think is a good solution, because the quality of these phones attached to the mid-range is generally bad, and so can a few golden reduce the price set.
Exterior view, quality materials, ergonomics
Locked in a black-and-gray plastic housing Xcover 3 has dimensions of 132.9 x 70.1 x 9.95 mm and weighs 154 grams. Due to the relatively small size, the maintenance of its 4.5-inch screen with one hand should anyone pursue of major problems, well, unless someone has a really short fingers. All buttons are large, clearly separated from one another, making them easy to handle with gloves.
Almost 62 per cent. the front surface of the device is a display. Above the screen, in addition to the centrally located holes ear speaker and the manufacturer’s logo, located on the right side proximity sensor and front camera lens. On the opposite side of the place were three physical buttons: the past, home page and back. The sides of the smartphone is made of black plastic frame, rounded and rough at the same time on the corners and decorated with grooves that provide a firm grip. In its upper part is shifted to the left side headphone jack, and on the opposite side of the centrally placed microUSB port and, slightly to the left, opening only in the phone’s microphone.
On the left side, in addition to the black volume buttons, programmable find blue button Xcover. We can assign two applications – one will start with a short press (the default is a flashlight), the second with a long (by default the camera). The disadvantage of this button is that it works only when the screen unlocked, and it would be nice, for example, to switch on the flashlight, without losing time to unlock the screen. Above button Xcover, almost on the corner, there is a hole for attaching the hand strap. The right side belongs to the power button.
On the back of the Samsung placed a gray door, made of a piece of plastic which is characterized by considerable flexibility. Its surface is roughened so that the probability of slipping the phone from his hand is minimal. The upper portion of the rear panel is placed in the center lens of a camera, which projects in a very small, hardly visible extent. The sides are arranged symmetrically LED Illuminates (left) and the opening speaker (right). The latter is projecting a slight bow, so that the phone while lying on your back on a flat surface slightly deviates from it and does not suppress too much sound coming out from the speaker. The following are four typical horizontal grooves and the manufacturer’s logo. Under the flap is removable battery integrated in the NFC antenna and interconnected card slots microSIM and microSD. To insert or remove the card (SIM and SD), please remove the battery.
